Notes

The handsomely produced "Large Paper Edition", this being number 254 of 575 sets, put out by the celebrated New York bookseller Gabriel Wells who, during the 1920s, competed in the sale rooms with the great Rosenbach. This edition, with introductory material by W. B. Yeats, Padraic Colum, John Drinkwater, Arthur Symons, and Wilde's one-time lover Richard Le Gallienne, was originally issued by Doubleday in 1923 as the hyperbolically titled Patron's Edition de Luxe; a few minor corrections were made for this edition. A most attractive set.
