First edition in English, first published in French in the same year. Gaspard-Théodore Mollien (1796-1872), was a French diplomat and explorer. This work details his voyage from France to North America and then on to the newly independent Columbia where he navigated the Magdalena river. A detailed and practical work which describes the cities, geography and people of the country, Mollien was reviewed at the time as "a vigilant observer" (The Philomathic Journal Vol. II, 1825, p. 479).
