Treasure Island.London: Ernest Benn Limited, 1927 Stock Code: 138005
Dulac's best workSigned limited edition, number 11 of 50 copies signed by the illustrator, bound in vellum and printed on handmade paper, and notably rare due to the unusually small limitation. Hughey describes Dulac's watercolour illustration for Treasure Island as his "most careful and superb painting", and Dulac himself considered them his best work.
Quarto. Original full vellum, titles in gilt to brown morocco spine label, top edge gilt.
Frontispiece and 11 colour plates, in-text black and white illustrations by Edmund Dulac, decorative opening initials and head- and tailpieces.
Copyright stamp printed in blue to half-title verso. Spine slightly darkened, discreet restoration to spine label, light splaying to boards, faint marginal finger-soiling to title page, without ownership marks, a near-fine copy.
