Typed letter signed, on tennis.8 March 1968 Stock Code: 141420
Typed letter signed from the Canadian author Hugh Maclennan to Ray Gardner (1919-1997), journalist and editor at the Toronto Star. Maclennan agrees to write an article for the paper on tennis, for a fee of five hundred dollars. He thanks him for sending Jack Scott's article on golf: "as I took up golf myself two years ago (no comment) I can truly say that I found it delightful... I don't think it's anything like as good a game for a young man as tennis is, but I know it's a better one for an old one - though I belong to an indoor tennis club where now the average age is about 54, Nobody will resign and one of us died last year at the age of 86, which is why he lasted that long".
Single sheet, on Maclennan's McGill University letterhead.
Light creasing. In very good condition.
