First Odyssey edition, first printing, single volume issue, the first printing of Ulysses issued in cloth. The novel was first published by Shakespeare and Company in 1922. Widely recognized as the key book of 20th-century English literature, it is among the major works in the modernist canon. Stuart Gilbert edited the text of this edition with help from Joyce, and it remains one of the key lifetime printings. The edition was also issued in a two-volume format, in wrappers.Description
Octavo. Original cream cloth, spine and front cover lettered in red. In the original card slipcase. Housed in a custom red cloth slipcase and chemise.

A fine copy, in excellent slipcase with very light staining.
