Very Peculiar People.
Portrait Studies in the Queer, the Abnormal and the Uncanny.London: Rider and Company, 1950 Stock Code: 136030
NotesFirst edition, first impression, this copy inscribed by the author on the front free endpaper; "With best wishes from the author, E.J. Dingwall, Crowhurst, 1972". Typically recherché material from Dingwall, "portrait studies of peculiar, or abnormal, personalities, and an analysis of the psychological problems they present each chapter is followed by an appendix with full documentation and selected bibliographies, and the book contains eleven indescribably unique plates" (blurb). Subjects include Kierkegaard, Johann Jetzer the stigmatic, and Eusapia Palladino, spiritualist medium, "The Queen of the Cabinet". Very unusual to find in the flimsy jacket, more pleasing still to have it signed.
Octavo. Original black cloth lettered in white on the spine. With the pictorial dust jacket.
Slight spotting to the title page, else very good in slightly rubbed jacket, some minor splits and chips to the edges, no loss of text or image, a very good copy.
