Presentation copy
Presentation copy from the author, inscribed in pencil at the head of the dedication page, "To my friend Nat Horwitt this 'voyage' (so far the only one we've sailed together on) is inscribed by me Rockwell Kent Au Sable Forks, March 1929". The recipient was the celebrated industrial designer Nathan G. Horwitt (1889-1990), "Horwitt is best known for his design of a numberless black-faced watch that has become known as the "Museum Watch" and was produced by the Movado Watch Company. He also designed the 1930 Beta chair and the Braquette, a frameless picture frame. His innovative designs for timepieces incorporated the classic elements of modern design while retaining some of the traditional elements of telling time, such as the circular face" (Cooper Hewitt onlinr, retrieved 24.07.19). In 1925 Kent designed a bookplate for Horwitt. Au Sable Forks was Kent's home in the Adirondacks. This is the third printing of Kent's memoir of his 1922 to 1923 travels in and around Tierra del Fuego, first published in 1924.Description
