Notes

First and only edition, in notably bright condition, of this unusual and highly attractive period guide to commercial display for gentlemen's outfitters. This work is uncommon with just two copies on Library Hub at the British Library and the University of Southampton, and WorldCat adding two more copies at the National Library of New Zealand and the University of Chicago.

The first section gives hints on the folding, draping and display of fabrics and their use in overall display work, with guidelines on the blocking out of a window and the use of show-cards and fashion plates. The second section offers analysis of examples drawn from high-end retailers, and includes photographs of displays in situ at such as Austin Reed in Regent Street, Harrod's in Brompton Road and Knightsbridge, Sulka in Bond Street, Hawke's in Savile Row, and Moss Bros. on Covent Garden.
