Window Dressing for Tailors Outfitters etc.London: The Tailor and Cutter Ltd, 1932 Stock Code: 140954
Superb period guide to commercial display for gentlemen's outfitters, the first section giving hints on the folding, draping and display of fabrics and their use in overall display work, with guidelines on the blocking out of a window and the use of show-cards and fashion plates. The section of examples includes photographs of actual displays in situ at such as Austin Reed in Regent Street, Harrod's in Brompton Road and Knightsbridge, Sulka in Bond Street, Hawke's in Savile Row, and Moss Bros. on Covent Garden. An acceptable copy of this unusual, practical guide, which is uncommon: two copies only on Library Hub - BL and Southampton; WorldCat adds two more - National Library of New Zealand and University of Chicago.
Quarto. Original black cloth-backed printed paper covered boards
64-pages on art paper, illustrated throughout with 30 model examples of displays.
A little rubbed and mottled, some stripping from the back board, endpapers a touch browned, internally slightly used, some marginal finger-soiling, mildly shaken, a few ink splashes, but overall very good.
