First UK editions, first impressions. An attractively bound set of Brooke's works:
i) John Webster and the Elizabethan Drama first written by Brooke in 1911-2 for the fellowship at King's College, Cambridge, John Webster was first published in the US four days before its UK publication.
ii) Letters from America the first US edition was published a few weeks before the first UK edition.
iii) Collected Poems of Rupert Brooke this was first published in the US in 1915 (New York: John Lane Company) but that edition lacks the poems added by Edward Marsh to the present London edition of 1918.
3 volumes, octavo (206 x 144 mm). Contemporary blue half morocco, raised bands to spines with gilt ruling, title to spines, double gilt ruling on boards, top edges gilt. Letters from America and John Webster, blue endpapers. The Collected Poems, marbled endpapers.

Gift inscription to front free endpaper of all volumes, The Collected Poems with an additional gift inscription on front pastedown. Spines consistently faded to brown, a few marks on sides, very minor rubbing to extremities, newspaper cutting dating from May 1980 tipped into The Collected Poems. A very good set.
