17 volumes, octavo (221 x 146 mm). Early 20th-century green half morocco, spines lettered in gilt, marbled edges and endpapers, top edges gilt.

Illustrations

With 10 portrait frontispieces, 27 plates, and 6 folding maps.

Condition

With the bookplates of Newell Clark Gilbert (1880-1953), professor of Medicine at Northwestern University and founder of the Chicago Heart Association. Spines lightly sunned, some half-titles a little toned, frontispiece of vol. X loose. A very good set.
