Alan Ross, a former naval officer, was a literary friend of Ann Fleming. Ross was one of the first to review Casino Royale favourably, in the Times Literary Supplement, a review which Fleming kept on his desk until his death. Ross was editor of the London Magazine, which printed Cyril Connolly's cross-dressing spoof, "Bond Strikes Camp."

Spine gently rolled, small bumps to foot and upper outer corner of front board, one small spot to fore edge. An excellent copy in the dust jacket with very lightly toned along edges and a small closed tear to head of rear panel.
