Zur Geschichte der Handelsgesellschaften im Mittelalter.
Nach südeuropäischen Quellen.Stuttgart: Ferdinand Enke, 1889 Stock Code: 124520
First edition of Weber's first work, the publisher's file copy, with a printed paper label to the front wrapper reading "Archivexemplar! Nach Gebrauch sofort zurückgeben." Max Weber (1864-1920), "one of the most powerful personalities that ever entered the scene of academic science" (Schumpeter, 817n), submitted the present work as his doctoral dissertation. In it, "he examined the various legal principles according to which the cost, risk or profit of an enterprise were to be borne jointly by several individuals" (Bendix, p. 25).
Octavo. Original yellow paper wrappers, spine and wrapper printed in black.
Slight loss to spine removing the word "im", two small chips and a crease to lower wrapper, overall a very good copy.
